Luxury redefined: For many, it’s developing an appreciation for the sweet, simple moments of life; opportunities to reduce stress, slow down, and view the world in a different light.

That epiphany came to me while hiking the cliffside trails of the Cinque Terre. There, among the twisted grape vines and ripening lemon groves, it suddenly occurred to me that in my mechanical haste to outpace other hikers I was not seeing—really seeing—the great beauty around me.

Out of this epiphany came experiences there I could not have appreciated otherwise…the chirping of tree frogs, the crash of the waves on the rocks below, the church bells chiming in the distance, and someone playing an accordion, unseen, somewhere on the trail. The accents—Australian, British, German— of my fellow hikers, scattered here and there on the cliffs. The wooden handrails, smooth from so many travelers’ hands, and warm from the Italian summer sun.

I brought this joyful awareness home with me, inspired to create similar sweet and simple moments in my everyday life, to focus on being present, and to more fully connect to the world around me.

It was a similar epiphany of awareness that led to the creation of Nellora. While my husband and I are passionate about a healthy lifestyle, we weren’t as knowledgeable about what we were putting on our bodies as what we were putting in them. So I began to pay attention to what was in our soap and skin care products.

I was shocked to learn that the products we were using were filled with detergents and synthetic and chemical ingredients, many of which are known to be hormone-disruptors, carcinogens, and skin irritants. And products labeled "natural"? They often contain the same toxic ingredients.

We believe skin care rituals should be sweet and simple, focused on confidence and well-being, and that toxins and harmful chemicals have no place in these rituals.

Nellora Apothecary was born out of a desire to create luxurious bath and body products in as pure a state as possible. We craft our products by hand using pure plant-based oils, botanicals, and essential oils with the goal of creating a higher consciousness of what you put on your body. We hope that you’ll savor the time spent using our products, and that those moments will help you discover other ways to apply the principle of "la dolce far niente" to your day.
